Kick Scooter Bearings
Kick Scooter Bearings for a Smooth Journey
Scooter bearings ensure your wheels spin effortlessly and swiftly. Every wheel requires two bearings, and while your scooter will come with them installed, they will degrade over time and require replacement. Inside each bearing are small balls aiding in distributing the weight load during rides.
Push scooter bearings are typically crafted from steel or ceramic. Steel bearings are most prevalent due to their durability, making them suitable for everyday use. Ceramic bearings produce less heat and friction, often allowing for faster spinning compared to steel. Nevertheless, steel bearings are generally the more economical choice.
Considerations for Scooter Bearings
When shopping for scooter bearings, you'll frequently encounter the term “ABEC.” This is essentially an indicator of the bearing's quality on a scale from 1 to 9. A higher number denotes more precise bearings, promising smoother rotations. Yet, bearings with a lower ABEC rating tend to be much sturdier, so a lower rating doesn’t necessarily mean a bearing is unsuitable for your setup.
You will also often notice the number 608. This refers to the bearing size, which is the most commonly used for scooters, skateboards, and skates, featuring an 8mm inner diameter and a 22mm outer diameter.
