BMX Tubes
Changing Your BMX Tubes
BMX tubes reside within the tyres and are the component of the wheel responsible for holding air. Constructed from various types of durable rubber, they feature a tyre valve for inflation, either a Presta or Schrader valve.
Given the nature of BMX riding, inner tubes will eventually need replacement. Regardless of whether you are into freestyle or racing, it is understood that in both disciplines, tyres endure hard impacts and sustained pressure, inevitably leading to punctures of varying sizes. Minor punctures can be repaired with a patch kit, but if your BMX inner tube persistently loses air pressure, it is time to purchase a new tube. Which BMX Tube Size Is Required?
In straightforward terms, the size of your BMX tube must correspond to the size of your BMX tyre in both diameter and width. The most prevalent tyre diameter is 20 inches, thus a 20-inch BMX tube would fit well in this case. The inner tube width is specified as a range, such as 1.70 - 2.5 inches. The tyre width should fall within this range, but if it is marginally narrower or wider, it should nonetheless be compatible.
While replacing your BMX tubes, it is advisable to inspect your tyre for its condition. Over time, they might lose traction or become prone to punctures. If you are contemplating acquiring new tyres as well, browse our collection - BMX Tyres.
