Longboard Gloves and Slide Pucks
Do You Need Slide Gloves for Longboarding?
Longboard enthusiasts wear bespoke gloves tailored to amplify their riding adventures. These gloves, called longboard slide gloves, assist in maintaining equilibrium during "hands down" slides around bends. The distinctive feature of these gloves is the slide pucks—round discs commonly found on longboard gloves. When manoeuvring, a significant portion of your weight is supported by these pucks.
Crafted to be both light and flexible, longboard gloves ensure a snug fit. Traditionally, these gloves are leather, which is esteemed for its robustness and resistance to abrasion. Alternatively, they can be fashioned from a mix of materials including nylon, suede, and Kevlar at the fingertips.
Maintain Control with Longboard Slide Pucks
Aside from offering extra protection, slide pucks enhance your control while riding, making them indispensable for freeride and downhill longboarding. Typically, a puck is situated on the palm, though individual pucks for each finger are also available. For optimal performance, place palm pucks near the heel of your hand.
Despite being commonly made from polyurethane, pucks endure significant wear and require frequent replacement.
