BMX Seating Equipment for your Bike
Within our BMX seating category, explore our range of BMX seats, seat posts, and seat clamps. It’s essential to ensure these various parts are compatible. For example, a pivotal seat will solely function with a pivotal seat post.
How Do You Install a BMX Seat?
There are five distinct mounting systems for BMX seats: pivotal, combo, rail, tripod, and stealth. Each type requires a different method for attachment to their seat posts. Nevertheless, the procedure to fit the seat post onto the frame is largely the same.
Certain frames come with an integrated seat clamp atop the seat tube. Yet, if yours lacks one, you'll require a clamp to secure the seat post to your frame: use a hex key to loosen the clamp, then slide it onto the seat tube. Next, insert the seat post into the frame and tighten the clamp to secure the seat to your preferred height. In race BMX bikes, there exists a kind of seat clamp termed “quick-release”, which permits seat height adjustments without the need for tools.
To select the correct seat post, measure the inner diameter of the frame's seat tube—the standard being 25.4 mm, though it’s always wise to verify. Once you have this dimension, select a seat post of matching diameter. If both the seat post and frame are constructed of aluminium or steel, applying a light layer of grease to the seat post is a prudent step to prevent oxidation or seizing due to friction.
