Skate Wax & Grind Wax
What is the Purpose of Skate Wax?
Skate wax, also referred to as curb wax or grind wax, assists your skateboard in sliding and grinding more smoothly when performing tricks. Typically made from a paraffin base, the wax diminishes friction and smooths surfaces, making stunts like 50/50s and boardslides easier.
Applying wax can significantly enhance your skating experience. Many rails, curbs, and ledges become "skateable" with just a touch of wax, allowing you to skate over many more surfaces.
How to Apply Skate Wax
This wax can be applied both under your skateboard and on the surfaces on which you will be grinding and sliding. Simply rub some onto the area you wish to trick on, alongside the underside of your skateboard.
With skate wax, the more you use, the slipperier the surface (and your board) will become. Therefore, it is advisable to start by applying it sparingly and test the results. Should it not be smooth enough, you can always add extra. If you opt not to use wax, another way to enhance the smoothness of your deck is by installing Skateboard Deck Rails. These help to decrease friction and extend the life of your deck.
