DIY: Bleach Tie-Dye - Craft Your Personal Acid Wash Shirt
Everyone appreciates the classic style, especially when it comes to old-school acid-wash t-shirts. The best part is, you can accomplish it on your own using your favourite SkatePro t-shirt.
We transformed our SkatePro t-shirts to match the festival vibe and were so thrilled with the outcome that we decided to create a DIY video. Watch it and have fun! The results are absolutely awesome, ensuring you’ll be the centre of attention (or at least among your mates).
What you require includes bleach, rubber gloves, rubber bands, a bucket for rinsing afterwards, and plastic bags to shield your ‘workspace’.
The transformation occurs in 5 straightforward steps:
1. Prepare - utilise the plastic bags to protect the area where you’ll work, wear the gloves to prevent acid burns on your skin, and you’re all set.
2. Roll the t-shirt in your chosen pattern (refer to our video for suggestions) and secure it with rubber bands to maintain the design.
3. Apply bleach to the sections where the t-shirt is arranged into a pattern, using additional bleach for smaller areas.
4. Allow 60 minutes, then rinse in a bucket of water until it runs clear.
5. Let it dry! Your acid-wash SkatePro t-shirt is now set to make a statement.
NB! Ensure you wash it separately the first time to avoid bleaching half your wardrobe by mistake. Lastly, if you wish to try this, remember to do so outside to let the fumes disperse.
