Guide to Installing Snowboard Stomp Pads
With snowboard stomp pads, you gain enhanced control over your board when only one boot is secured, such as during ski lift boarding and alighting. Ensure you have alcohol and a hairdryer at your disposal for application.
Though the snowboard's top layer is sleek, stomp pads offer a textured grip to hold your boot's sole. These pads are used when the back foot is removed from the binding, aiding in gripping the board with your boot. Typically crafted from rubber, foam, knobs or a mix, the stomp pad is placed ahead of your back foot – situated between bindings.
Steps to Fit a Snowboard Stomp Pad
- Ensure both the board and stomp pad are at room temperature (approx. 21 °C).
- Wipe down the surface using rubbing alcohol. Keep it clean, smooth, and dry. Avoid touching it subsequently.
- Deploy a hairdryer on the hottest setting to warm up the ready snowboard surface along with the stomp pad's adhesive (ensure consistent movement of the dryer to prevent snowboard damage).
- Promptly after heating, position the stomp pad and apply firm pressure. Stand on it without twisting – the greater the weight, the better.
- Let the stomp pad cure at room temperature for a full 24 hours.
