Purchasing a Scooter Deck
The scooter deck serves as the platform you stand on while riding.
Swapping out the deck on a scooter is akin to replacing the frame on a bicycle, requiring you to switch all components and ensure they properly fit the new one. Thus, remember to verify your fork, headset, peg, and wheel before making upgrades.
The diagram below identifies the components of a deck:
Most decks are constructed from aluminium. Brakes and axles are commonly included unless stated otherwise.
Tips when Purchasing Decks:
- Lightweight decks typically do not last as long as heavier ones, though they facilitate tricks more easily.
- Heavy decks provide more durability but may rotate slower during tricks.
- Ensure to land tricks evenly on the deck to prolong its lifespan.
- Design variations mean not all pegs are compatible with every deck.
- Forks are available in various lengths; a fork that is too short might not accommodate an SCS, ICS, or HIC system.
- The headtube's angle determines the direction the bar will face.
- You can replace griptape as frequently as desired. Be sure to clean the deck before applying it.
- Integrated headtubes require integrated headsets to fit.
