Purchasing Scooter Pegs
It’s important to understand that various pegs may not be compatible with all scooters due to differing designs and manufacturers.
It’s advisable to select pegs along with the deck and fork from the same brand. If you're unsure or if there’s no information on the peg you plan to buy, feel free to reach out to the skate shop.
A good guideline is:
The axle on which the peg is attached must be longer than the deck's width; use spacers to create space if the peg is obstructed by the deck.
Peg Material
- Steel (chrome steel) offers durability and is excellent for street riding.
- Aluminium is more lightweight and suitable for park riding, although it’s not as robust as steel.
Alternative Pegs
"One piece pegs", where the axle and the peg are fused together, are available for purchase.
These typically have greater strength compared to conventional pegs.
Wear and Usage
Since pegs are replaceable, it is essential to wax and stone the curb properly if you intend to grind on curbs (stone or concrete, etc.) to ensure smoothness. Also, swap your pegs before they deform to the point where they become difficult to detach.
Installation
Decide whether you wish to install your pegs on the left or right side.
Different scooter brands employ different axle bolts. It is recommended to utilise the axle/bolt from your scooter when fitting new pegs, unless specified otherwise by your pegs. Typically, you only need to unscrew the bolt head on your scooter when fitting pegs, insert the bolt head through the peg, and then tighten it securely.
