Guideline for Applying Skateboard Griptape
The majority of skaters choose to apply their skateboard griptape on their own. It can be a bit challenging the first time and demands some patience. This guide will explain how to apply griptape to a skateboard, breaking it down into three straightforward steps.
THE THREE STEPS FOR APPLYING SKATEBOARD GRIPTAPE
Tools required: A knife and a skate tool (or a small metal instrument)
1. Begin by peeling off the protective sheet from the skateboard griptape and place the sticky side of the griptape facing downwards on top of the deck. Proceed to press down the griptape, starting from the centre and moving towards the edges. Utilise the protective sheet to eliminate any air pockets.
2. Lightly score the edges of the deck with a tool to create guidelines for trimming the griptape. Gently lift any overhanging griptape from the deck's sides and cut the griptape at approximately a 45-degree angle along the guideline.
3. For a neater finish on your board's edges, use the remaining griptape to sand down the sides.
