How to Determine the Correct Ski Boot Flex
You can understand boot flex as the level of resistance encountered when a skier leans and presses forward, ensuring the skier's knees are slightly bent in a correctly fitting alpine boot.
Essentially, flex measures the boot's flexibility in the forward direction. Typically, the flex range for popular alpine ski boots is 80-130 for men and 65-110 for women.
It's important to note that this chart serves only as a guideline, and not all skiers will adhere to these suggestions due to distinctive preferences, skill levels or body weight. The recommended flex numbers usually vary by 10-25 points.
Should you wish to advance with your boots, consider selecting a flex at the higher end of the rangeāor even surpassing the chart's recommendation. Novices, however, may opt for numbers at the lower end or even below those suggested.
This chart does not factor in the variability of flex ratings across different brands or the impact of temperature changes on ski boot flex experience.
Below is a guide table to help you select the flex that suits you best.
