Bags Surf
Purpose of a Surfboard Bag
Surfboard bags shield your boards from potential harm when they’re out of the water. Unprotected boards commonly encounter dings on the tail and surface, delamination, and dewaxation. Additionally, a quality surf bag or SUP bag offers defence against nature's elements, primarily the sun’s UV rays and heat that might cause the colour of your board to fade over time.
Varieties of Surfboard Bags
Surfboard bags are available in three forms: socks, day board bags, and travel bags. Surfboard socks are crafted from soft, lightweight woven fabric under two millimetres thick. Day board bags, the go-to choice for many, are lightweight, padded, and ideal for safeguarding your surfboard. Surfboard travel bags feature ten-millimetre-thick padding, making them perfect for longer journeys.
Choosing the Right Surfboard Bag Size
A suitable bag should store and protect your board adequately. A bag that's too small and tight makes your board vulnerable to dings, whereas an excessively large bag feels too loose, complicating transportation. When selecting a surfboard bag, check the board's length, width, and thickness. The length dictates the bag's size, and it’s wise to choose a bag the same size or up to two inches larger than your board.
Width and thickness have a more significant impact on the bag style needed. Boards vary based on the water sports discipline, and if the appropriate bag style isn’t immediately obvious, you can compare dimensions to make a decision.
