BMX Seats
What Are the Various Kinds of Freestyle BMX Seats?
BMX seats are crafted to be compact and endure impacts. Often pointing upwards and set low, they make it simpler to secure the saddle between the thighs during tricks. There are four primary types of BMX seats: pivotal, tripod, railed, and combo.
Pivotal seats are attached at the top with a single bolt piercing through the top of the seat. You can adjust the angle of a pivotal BMX bicycle seat to suit your preference. Tripod BMX seats, mounted from beneath, do not permit angle adjustment.
Combo seats, which are also called integrated seats, are permanently fixed to the seat post, forming a single unit. Thus, separating them is not feasible. Railed BMX seats, referred to as “micro-adjust seatposts,” feature two rails underneath the saddle, offering excellent stability to the rider.
Why Are Race BMX Seats So Firm?
Race BMX seats are firm because they are not often intended for prolonged sitting. They are slender, lightweight, and constructed from plastic to minimise the bike’s weight. In BMX racing, riders typically stand when pedalling, rendering a soft, thick leather seat superfluous. A primary reason that BMX race seats persist is to shield the rider's backside when landing from a significant drop.
