Pro Scooter Bars
Understanding Pro Scooter Bars
Pro scooter bars are a crucial element of your scooter setup. These bars come in a variety of sizes and styles to suit your height and riding preferences. Constructed from aluminium, steel, or titanium, each material offers different benefits. Aluminium bars are lightweight, making them perfect for performing tricks, while steel bars provide extra durability due to their heft. Titanium bars offer an excellent balance, being both light and durable.
Choosing the Right Scooter Bar Height
Selecting the correct height for your scooter bars significantly affects your riding experience. Although bar height is largely based on personal preference, ideally, the bars should reach somewhere between your thighs and navel. Nevertheless, some professional riders opt for taller bars to enhance stability and control.
Regarding scooter bar diameter, there are two options: standard or oversized. Standard bars have an outer diameter of 32 mm and an inner diameter of 28 mm, while oversized bars feature an outer diameter of 35 mm and either a 28 mm or 32 mm inner diameter. Bars with a 28 mm inner diameter are compatible only with IHC forks. Those with a 32 mm inner diameter require HIC compression. When using SCS, ensure bars don't have a slit, as compatibility issues may arise. If uncertain about fitting components, refer to our guide: Buying Scooter Bars.
Choosing Between Y-Bar and T-Bar Designs
Scooter bars generally come in two primary designs: Y-bars and T-bars. For park scootering, Y-bars, which are usually made from aluminium, are more prevalent. T-bars, often used for street riding, are typically constructed from steel. Y-bars are composed of three or more welded parts, whereas T-bars consist of two components, with some T-bars featuring extra reinforcements for improved durability.
Certain trick scooter bars include a back sweep, which means the bar is angled towards the back, akin to many bike handlebars. The choice between a pro scooter bar with or without a back sweep depends on personal preference.
