Finger Skateboards
A Fingerboard Is a Pocket-Sized Skateboard
Fingerboards are miniature skateboards crafted from either wood or plastic, with wooden fingerboards being the more sought after. Much like regular skateboards, fingerboards are equipped with a complete set of parts that includes a grip tape, hardware, two trucks, and four wheels. Typically, finger skateboards measure about 100 mm in length and roughly 30 mm in width, making them conveniently portable.
Certain fingerboards are pre-assembled, allowing you to perform tricks straight upon unpacking. Nevertheless, for those who enjoy being more hands-on and technical, fully complete sets requiring assembly are also available.
Fingerboard Ramps and Rails for an Indoor Miniature Skatepark
Creating a skatepark within your home is straightforward with fingerboard ramps and rails. These miniature ramps and rails perfectly complement your small skateboards, replicating the design and features of full-sized skatepark obstacles.
Available in a size that fits into your backpack, you can find everything from stair sets and metal rails to quarter pipes. Owning a collection of different ramps and rails not only enhances the enjoyment of fingerboarding but also hones your skills further.
The Origin of Finger Skateboards
The production of fingerboards began in the 1970s. Initially, they served predominantly as keychains for professional skaters. A homemade fingerboard featured in the 1985 skateboarding video “Future Primitive” brought them into the spotlight. By the late 1990s, finger skateboards grew in popularity and gained recognition beyond the skateboarding community.
Over time, the quality of fingerboard decks and their components has improved. People have realised that fingerboards are more than just decorative items—they are great fun and an excellent way to replicate authentic skateboard tricks.
