Top Caps
Enhance Your Performance With a BMX Top Cap
The BMX top cap is the bolt located at the peak of your fork, just above the headset. This small component is often overlooked but plays a vital role. It compresses your fork and stem against the headtube of your frame, ensuring the headset remains in the correct position for smooth handlebar rotations.
Top caps may be known by several terms, such as BMX compression bolt, compression cap, or BMX fork bolt. All of these refer to the same item and can be used interchangeably. BMX top cap bolts are generally crafted from aluminium, which prevents the addition of excess weight to the bike.
It's crucial to ensure compatibility of the top cap with your fork. The most significant aspect is the size of the bolt, detailed in our product descriptions and specification section.
Fitting and Detaching Top Caps
Fitting or detaching a top cap is usually a simple task. To switch the cap, begin by loosening the stem bolts with either a 6 or 8 mm Allen key. After doing this, you can unscrew the existing top cap using the appropriately sized Allen key and replace it with a new one. Ensure the cap is tightly secured, so your setup remains firm.
